The Spin

Pro-Trump narrative

Human smugglers are ruthless profiteers who pack men, women and children into cattle trucks and tractor-trailers, handing kids scripts to lie to law enforcement. These guilty pleas prove these networks must be dismantled at every level, and Trump's expansion of Joint Task Force Alpha — with 458 arrests and 408 convictions — is exactly the kind of sustained, coordinated pressure that shuts these operations down for good.

Anti-Trump narrative

Trump claims to be cracking down on traffickers, but his administration has reassigned thousands of agents from child exploitation, sex trafficking and cartel investigations to pursue his chaotic mass deportation agenda. His airstrikes on drug boats have also put smuggling victims in harm's way, claiming to have taken out drug smugglers when, in reality, he fired missiles at boats carrying innocent passengers. His policies are antithetical to his press releases.
